WHITE MUSK SMOKY ROSE

I'm so, so fussy with perfumes, I always end up with 20 plus testers in my pocket whenever I head into Boots, and I've never found that perfect scent. White Musk Smoky Rose* from The Body Shop isn't far off though...

It smells exactly like the name, very rose-y, but not floral, and very musky, yet not powdery - I'm definitely not the best at explaining scents haha! It doesn't last very long, but I'm sure that the Perfume version lasts longer than Eau De Toilette

This has soon become one of my every day fragrances and I absolutely love it. I get so many compliments whenever I wear it! The plus? It's not that expensive so I wont feel as guilty when I'm stocking up!

If you're putting some fragrances on your Christmas list, make sure this is one of them!

ESTEE LAUDER BRONZE GODDESS

Whilst my parents jetted off on their holiday to Crete, I had only one request - please try and get me Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess! Knowing that it has sold out all around me due to being far too late on the band wagon, I felt duty free was going to be my last chance. Low and behold, my parents returned 14 days later with a bottle of the beauty in tow.

I find it very easy to get headaches from perfumes - most can be really overwhelming and completely overload your senses, but with Bronze Goddess it smells so... unartificial? That's not even a word. I've never really liked coconut at all, I even at one point convinced myself I was allergic to it - but the coconut scent in this is so creamy and smooth. It smells slightly citrusy and almost like sun cream which really takes you back to holidays, beaches and late summer nights.

The scent stays with you for hours and I always seem to sit there smelling myself. I literally have nothing but good things to say about this. It's like a dream - it's so, so beautiful!

Unfortunately it'd limited edition and is more than likely completely sold out now. Next year I'm going to pick up at least two!
Have you tried this perfume? What do you think?

Escentric Molecules - Molecule 01

The not so secret "beauty secret", Molecule 01, dropped into my possession thanks to my looovely Ma and Pa, thank you! I knew what to expect, but when I first sprayed it, my Mum coiled in disgust of the awfully pungent scent of alcohol. After 10 minutes though, I found her shadowing me, getting a sniff of my perfume at any given opportunity.

As we all know, Molecule 01 is based on the chemical composition Iso E Super, this smells lovely and woody, warm and very slightly musky. It mixes in with your natural pheromones, somewhat "enhancing" your natural scent, which is why it tends to smell slightly different on everyone. I'm yet to try it out on other people, but I've read on some people it smells citrusy.. curious!

I find it slightly difficult to smell on myself, however others are constantly complimenting me on it - craaazy stuff. I do find that I can still smell it strongly on clothing/scarfs that I haven't worn in over a week which is really impressive.

This really is a little gem, something I've lusted over for a long time and will probably repurchase many, many times! You can get this bottle for £27 from Cult Beauty or you can pop into Liberty's or Harvey Nichols and pick one up.

Iconic Fragrances from JO LOVES Part Two

If you read my post yesterday, you will have seen the first of my three part installment on the absolutely incredible, JO LOVES fragrance collection. I wanted to split it up so it wasn't such a hefty post, and so I could give you a little bit more information about the company.

Jo is inspired by the scents all around her, as her website says "Everyday I’m struck by different smells which evoke emotions or memories that inspire me to be creative. The scent of my husband’s cologne, freshly washed linens, hot Moroccan mint tea, the smell of a horse’s saddle and New York in the rain are a few of my favourites but the list continues to go on and on" This makes her fragrances incredibly unique and so attractive.

So lets get on with more of the fragrances! I'll be doing the two larger samples in a separate post once they've had a little wear.

Orange Tulle
Notes:
Top: Orange Flower, Mandarin
Heart: Mint Leaves, Neroli
Base: Petitgrain, Musk

This fragrance is so beautiful, and strangely smells like I've just walked into Lush and all the Orange smelling products are out. It even smells kind of fizzy, if that makes sense.. The mint makes a slight appearance, but is not over powering at all and the zestyness is dulled down by the Musk which makes it really, really gorgeous.

Gardenia
Notes:

Top: Italian Bergamot, Gardenia Leaves
Heart: Ylang Ylang, Gardenia Blossom, White Narcissus, Sambac Jasmine, Coumarin
Base: Heliotrope, Musk
Wow. I'm not one for a floral scent but this smells incredible! It reminds me of going on holiday with my parents to Greece and walking, surrounded by plants. It's the amazing realistic, fresh, warm scent that just excites me! Probably not one to wear in the Summer, unless you're okay with getting a literal bee hive!

Notes:
Top: Pink Pomelo, Rose
Heart: Clove, Vetiver
Base: Suede, Patchouli

Another floral scent, this time less garden center, more grand bouquet. It's a really subtle floral scent with a bit of heat from the Clove. I think I'd prefer this more as a candle or a room fragrance as it's really fresh and clean, just not something I'd usually wear. Again, perhaps one for a mature lady, going for an afternoon gin and tonic with the ladies (oh, matron!)

Obviously, I'm no expert when it comes to fragrances so I would really recommend getting some samples of these. At £95/100ml, this is not one that you want to get wrong. How perfect are the little samples though? They still smell amazing nearly a week after getting them. I'm planning on saving them and using them as room fresheners when I move out!

I can't wait to tell you all about my bigger samples. They packaging is caaa-ute!
Which one sounds like your favourite? Any you're desperate to try?

Iconic Fragrances from JO LOVES Part One

When I came across JO LOVES, I just KNEW I needed to give all the scents available a massive sniff, so when the opportunity came to be able to sample some of the fragrances, I jumped for the chance.
Now before we start, Jo makes it very clear that JO LOVES is NOT a subsidiary company or an associated business of Jo Malone Ltd. I can see why people would think such things as the range of surprising fragrances are much like Jo Malone creations.

This is going to have to be a two-post kinda thaaang. There's just so many it'd be cruel to make you read such a lengthy post, so I'll split it up into three fragrances this time, three next and give you a little bit more information about the company itself.
Onto the fragrances!

Mango Nectar
Notes:
Top: Bitter Orange, Pink Grapefruit, Mango Leaf
Heart: Mango Nectar, Apricot Blossom
Base: Jasmine, Musk

This is a really fresh scent, with the creaminess of Mango and the sharpness of the Bitter Orange and Pink Grapefruit. There's a little sweetness in there from the Apricot and the base note of Jasmine comes out in those last couple of sniffs you take. The three scents that stand out to me in this are the Mango, Apricot and Grapefruit.

Notes:
Top: Mango, Kaffir Lime, Black Pepper
Heart: Freesia, Mint Leaves
Base: White Thyme Absolute, Vetiver

Zesty and Peppery without getting caught up your nose, an incredibly oriental, clean scent. You still get the slightly creamy smell from the Mango but the Lime and Pepper are the real contenders here. Kiiiind of masculine, but still feminine enough for a woman to wear, I get the impression these are very uni-sex fragrances.

Notes:
Top: Pink Crushed Peppercorns, Juniper Berries, Cardamom
Heart: Cumin, Nutmeg, Ginger, Angelica
Base: Vetiver and Amber

Probably one of my least favourites, it kind of reminds me of when I'd have a bath and use my Mum's bath soaks. Quite floral yet really spicy from the Peppercorns, Cumin, Nutmeg and Ginger, saying that, I wouldn't have been able to identify the spices unless I read the notes. Without sounding like a troublesome youth, this is probably one for the more mature lady..

So this is part one of a two, perhaps three part series, so keep an eye out tomorrow for the next installment with more fragrances, and a little bit more about JO LOVES.

What do you think to these fragrances? Sound like something you'd like to try? Leave me a comment with your favourite!

beauty wishlist

So Christmas and New Year have passed, it's my sisters 21st in a couple of weeks, and I'm left money-less and wanting more things than ever. Typical. So now I'm sat here with the face on compiling a list of my most wanted beauty products right now!

1. Benefit High Beam Highlighter
I am a complete highlighter virgin. I've never used one and since this is a product so many people rave about, I'm really wanting to try it out and see what kind of difference it makes to my face.
I looked at the different ones they had such as Sun Beam, but I think this one would be so much more suited to my skin, but like I said, I've noooo idea!

2. Nars Laguna Bronzing Powder
I don't think I need to say anything about this product. If you've not heard of it, I'll assume you've been living under a rock! Contouring my face is an everyday thing for me, but my bronzer at the moment is just too shimmery. This is perfect - apart from the price! But I've been told it lasts a verrrry long time. Worth it?

3. Clinique Chubby Stick Intense
I'm SO desperate for this. I've seen people say that Revlon is a good dupe, but lately I've had the mentality that rather than spending a little money on a lot of products, spend a lot on a little. I definitely think spending more pays off and I've got my heart set on this. For £16, I don't think it's too expensive. The shade I'd love to try is 06 Roomiest Rose. I think it's a lovely shade, not too in your face and I think it would look quite natural. I want this so baaaaad :(

4. Kate Spade Supercalifragilipstick
I've noticed this in the Space NK sale for just £10! Unfortunately, it's out of stock in the shade that I am absolutely loving. It's called Popart Pink and is a lovely coral-pink shade. I don't have a colour like it in my make up case and I would love to pop this cute bullet in there.

5. Escentric Molecules - Molecule 01
This was at the top of my Christmas list, with many asterisks next to it and unfortunately I didn't get it. Super sad. Alas, it remains on my wishlist, the beauty secret, Molecule 01 and I'm still to try it. I would love to see whether the reactions I've read happen to me!

top five fragrances - perfect pressies!

Anyone who knows me, knows I never leave the house without perfume, and these are my go-to fragrances. You can find links to the products below.

Diesel Fuel For Life Denim
This smells slightly masculine, yet floral, but it so nice and long wearing. The main reason I love this is the packaging! It looks gorgeous on my perfume stand. It's not as cheap as the others, but I got this in the Christmas sales last year for a fraction of the price and I'm only half way through the bottle!
.
Paco Rabanne Black XS
This is pretty much my all time favourite fragrance, it's sweet, recognizable and incredibly long wearing. I get so many compliments when I wear this, but it is at the end of it's bottle now, sadly. Some people might find it over-powering and a bit sickly, but I love it.

DKNY Golden Delicious
I lose count of how many people compliment me on this perfume. Again, another that's at the end of it's life, but I have another DKNY apple fragrance on my list. It really does smell like a Golden Delicious apple, not too artificial. I usually wear this on a night out/meal, something I have to look nice for and it really makes my outfit.

Versace Red Jeans
This is very strong, fruity, I don't find it lasts me all day, but seeing as the bottle is so big and is pretty cheap, I tend to wear this almost every day. Another one similar to this is the Tommy Hilfiger fragrance which got re-merchandised last Christmas.

Kate Moss Kate
Another floral/fruity fragrance that I'd wear every day. It's fairly subtle, but you can still smell it well. Quite good for someone aged 15+ I think because it's quite fresh. I find some perfumes can be too old for people, is that just me?! I bought it for my cousin for Christmas this year so let's see how it goes!

Sorry it's not much of a post, it's been a pretty hectic day Christmas shopping and I'm absolutely knackered. Hope this gives you some ideas for presents though, or even for yourself! If you have any questions about them, just ask me below.

PS. I'm looking for some new winter boots/shoes. Anyone got any favourites?! I'd love to hear, my feet are cold. Thank you! xxx

my wishlist #1

After getting Golden Delicious last Christmas, I fell in love with the DKNY fragrances. I really want to try this, surely a higher concentrated perfume is going to last longer?

Literally just purchased these and I want to cry with happiness! They're absolutely gorgeous. I'm not too sure what to wear them with yet, so any suggestions would be so appreciated!

I think I'm starting to like these now that the 'craze' is coming to an end. I don't think it'd suit me, but hey, it's a wishlist, right?

So, so expensive for a nail varnish, but tat colour is so gorgeous! If you know where I can get this kind of shade but a cheaper version, I'd so appreciate it.

These are officially on my Christmas list. I love the heel on them, I think if it was just a normal straight heel, I probably wouldn't be as attracted as I am. Love these though, hope I get them!

If you do wishlists, leave me a link in my comments, I'd love to check them out and get some ideas for myself!

christmas is coming!

Anyone that claims they are not excited for the Christmas season is telling lies!
What is there NOT to love about this time of year? Festive films, big, warm jumpers, watching the snow fall from the night sky, going Christmas shopping and getting a bag of hot, roasted chestnuts to warm your insides! Sounds perfect to me.
It's about time I started putting together a small wishlist to sneakily hand to the boyfriend!

First off, something I've wanted for longer than I remember!

I absolutely love Jeffery Campbells, but they are so, so expensive and working voluntary in a charity shop, I'm never going to get the funds to buy a pair of these. After searching for similar shoes, I came across these which you can find here. I think these ones are just as lovely as the originals they are based on. I would love to be able to wear some of the pastel coloured, suede pairs you can find on the Chockers website, however I definitely think I'd struggle to pull them off and find something nice to wear them with!

I'm a massive lover of perfume, I have more bottles than is normal but I would love so many more!

After reading loads of different reviews and opinions on Lady Gaga's 'Fame' perfume, I decided I had to try it myself, so popped down to the nearest Superdrug and got myself a tester. I was very pleasantly surprised when I tried it! It was sweet, fresh and lasted a lot longer than I expected which I thought was very impressive considering the inexpensive price tag of £29.99. Although I appreciate everyone has different tastes, I definitely recommend people give this fragrance a try!
